Pierre brings deep understanding of both the tech world and education. His public engagement in the press and in films have been about exploring the misalignment of what technology provides and what kids need to grow healthy. For 18 years he was in the leadership of the private school in Silicon Valley where he explored the natural stagers of kid’s development, the transformation of a child into an adult, to discover what ingredients our kids miss most in a technology-driven world where kids and parents feel more isolated. The first part of his inquiry helped produce the 2021 documentary film #KidsOnTech. He is now working on a follow-up book, bringing simple solutions that have been overlooked.
In his presentations he likes to use story telling in his presentation from his experience as an educator and parent.
Pierre is married to Monica, an accomplished teacher who taught two cohorts of students from 1st to 8th grade. She is working on PhD research on education, focusing on the middle school social environment.
Together they are raising three children.
Topics
AI, WHY IT MATTERS to the boardroom
This session demystifies artificial intelligence for board members who need to make informed, strategic decisions. They will gain a clear understanding of what AI can and cannot do, explore real-world use cases, and learn how to assess both the opportunities and the ethical risks. They will leave with the foundational knowledge to ask the right questions, guide responsible innovation, and align AI initiatives with your organization’s values and long-term goals.
AI Ethics and governance
A look at what AI has to offer learners, what it won’t do, and when to be cautious. What to make of emergent use cases, such as AI for homework or AI companionship? A practical framework to understand possible risks and rewards by age.
Parents once thought of coding as a safe and desirable job, but now, AI is encroaching on that field first. What human capacities should students develop in a world where computers imitate human thinking, yet don’t model it? How do we prepare kids for a future with AI while protecting them?
ARE We FORGETTING OUR KIDS?
AI Governance when kids might use it
Most AI governance frameworks are built with adult users in mind, overlooking the unique needs, rights, and vulnerabilities of children. This session explores why that’s a critical oversight. Through real-world use cases and ethical scenarios, we’ll examine how AI impacts children differently and what responsible governance should look like when kids are part of the equation. Attendees will leave with a sharper lens for evaluating AI systems and a deeper understanding of how to build safeguards that truly protect all users.
